The validity period of.a South Korean ETA is 3 years (or 2 years if application was submitted before July 3, 2023) from the date of approval. However, if the passport used for the eTA application expires in less than 3 years (or 2 years if submitted before July 3, 2023), the eTA approval will be valid from the passport expiration date.
What You Need to Know
The validity of your South Korea eTA allows you to enter the country multiple times during the approved period without needing to reapply each time. However, each stay is usually limited to a maximum of 90 days, depending on your nationality. Your eTA is electronically linked to the passport you used in your application, so if your passport expires or changes, you must apply for a new eTA.
Our Recommendation
Always check your passport’s validity before applying, since your eTA cannot outlast your passport. Make sure your passport will remain valid for your entire trip and beyond.
A Quick Tip
If you’re planning multiple trips to South Korea within two years, your eTA will cover them as long as you travel with the same passport.
