Yes, in many cases, updating information on your ESTA means submitting a new application. Once approved, your ESTA cannot be edited, and the U.S. government requires a new application if key details change.
🔄 When Is a New ESTA Required?
You must apply for a new ESTA if:
- You’re issued a new passport
- You change your name
- You change your gender
- Your country of citizenship changes
- Your answers to any of the “yes” or “no” eligibility questions have changed (e.g., new criminal record, health status)
⏳ Validity and Reapplication
Your ESTA is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. If either one expires, you’ll need to submit a new application and pay the associated fee again.
