An ETA may be required for transit. Travelers transiting through the United Kingdom who will not pass through border control (‘airside’ transit) do not require an ETA. Travelers required to pass through border control, such as when traveling on separate tickets or transferring between airports, must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to transit through the United Kingdom.
If I have a visa, will I also need an ETA?
Individuals who possess a valid visa can still travel to the United Kingdom on that visa for the purpose for which it was issued. They are not required to apply for an ETA authorization.
